Coquitlam, B.C. — The Coquitlam Minto Cup Committee is proud to announce the media team for the 2024 Minto Cup slated for August 17-24th in Coquitlam, British Columbia, home of the three-time Minto Cup champion Jr. A Coquitlam Adanacs. The team will consist of a wide array of on-air talent, including some of the most recognizable faces and voices in all of lacrosse media.

Teddy Jenner, Jake Elliott, Jonathan Donville, Tino Fera, Maki Jenner, and Ian Wilson will make up the star-studded team that will provide wall-to-wall coverage of the premier Jr. A lacrosse championship in Canada.

The entire tournament will be available by pay-per-view ($20 per game, or $125 for the all-tournament pass) thanks to streaming company Trickshot, who have been streaming all of the B1 and Jr. A Adanac games this summer. Minto Cup Committee Chair, Gordon Kask, is proud to continuing working with Trickshot for this year’s Minto Cup.

“Trickshot had done all the streaming for the Coquitlam Express Hockey Club for a large U.S. Streaming Company last season and produced a great product,” Kask said. “Their willingness to explore and push the boundaries for the lacrosse market in Coquitlam is unprecedented. Shahaab and his staff are extremely professional and deliver every time. After a successful season of streaming all our home games for B1 and Junior A it was an easy transition to use them for the Minto Cup. We believe Trickshot will rival TSN and Sportsnet with their product and look forward to a great Minto Cup.”

From the outstanding play-by-play and colour commentary to the in-depth analysis offered by the the panel of experts before and after games, as well as in between periods, viewers will be treated to incredible insight and top-notch player and coach interviews.

Tino Fera, who has become one of the leading voices of B.C. summer box lacrosse through his work calling Coquitlam Jr A and B, Poco Jr A, and Victoria Jr A and B, as well as calling games for last year’s MacDonald Cup (Western Canadian Jr B invitational) and the Founders Cup (Canadian Jr B championship), will be the media lead for the tournament.

The panel segments will be hosted by NLL on TSN broadcaster Teddy Jenner, a two-time winner of the National Lacrosse League’s Tom Borrelli Media Person of the Year Award, and former Victoria Shamrocks broadcaster. Two rotating guests will accompany him throughout the tournament.

NLL on TSN sideline reporter and former U-17 Canadian box champion Maki Jenner is honored to be joining this great crew. As the lone female voice of the tournament, she is proud to have this opportunity to show young women what is achievable in lacrosse media if you work hard and dedicate yourself to the craft.

“All the players that get to compete in this championship understand that it is one of the most sought after championships in lacrosse,” Maki Jenner said. “To be part of something like that is huge. Also, to be a female voice in this is something that’s very exciting, as well.”

Current NLL player and 2019 Minto Cup champion Jonathan Donville graduated from the University of Maryland with a master’s degree in journalism and has spent much of this summer behind the microphone calling Ontario Jr. A Lacrosse League games this summer. He is ready for his journey out west and to get back to the Minto Cup.

“I’m really excited to be part of a great team,” Donville said. “I think the Minto Cup is one of the best events in the game of lacrosse - period. I’m particularly excited about having the world know more about the great players and the great teams that will be there.”

This will be the return of the Minto Cup to Coquitlam for the first time since 2010, when the hometown Coquitlam Adanacs won it all on their home floor. Coquitlam native and former Minor, Jr. A, and Sr. A Adanac, Jake Elliott, was there in 2010 when the Adanacs hosted the cup.

Elliott is also known for his broadcasting work in the NLL and the WLA. This summer, he will be a member of this accomplished media team, and he will potentially have an opportunity to call a Minto Cup championship for his former club.

“To think back to that 2010 year, or even back to 1992, and what that arena was like, what those games were like - it gives me chills,” Elliott said. “I’m pretty excited to be a part of it.”

Ian Wilson rounds out the star-studded Minto Cup crew. Wilson is the leading voice of Arena Lacrosse League’s West Division and has called Jr. A and Jr. B Adanacs games all summer. He is also the play-by-play voice of the B.C. Hockey League’s Coquitlam Express.

Kask and the entire Coquitlam Minto Cup Committee wanted the 2024 Minto Cup to have a media team that would rival any major lacrosse event broadcast. He feels the team they’ve established will do just that.

“There are many characters in the lacrosse world with exceptional knowledge of the game and others that know how to call a game,” Kask said. “The Coquitlam Minto Committee wanted to have the best product off the floor to call, review, and analyze the game. We believe we have chosen the best play-by-play, color, and analysts ever assembled for a Minto Cup Championships. We have the best up-and-comers in the business, including the established NLL callers. An opportunity for some passionate calling from East Coast to West Coast styles with exceptional knowledge of all aspects of lacrosse. We are super excited.”
